Get ready for a mini road trip to Lancaster to experience this great event!
1 – This Art Show Funds the 13-week Long’s Park Summer Music Series
Now in its 55th season, the Summer Music Series is regarded as a top musical entertainment destination in one of the best outdoor venues in Central PA – the iconic Long’s Park Amphitheater. This 13-week series of free Sunday evening concerts showcases nationally-known bands on the lovely amphitheater stage, attracting over 100,000 music lovers throughout the summer. But none of these free performances would happen without the Labor Day Weekend Art Festival. All proceeds from the tickets sold to festival attendees goes to pay for the performers, sound, lighting and all other costs associated with these concerts. While corporate sponsorships help defray some of the music series expenses, the Art Festival tickets are the primary source of funding for the Summer Music Series.
2 – Great Food & Drink – Including Beer & Wine
Our attendees tell us that the food and drink at the Long’s Park Art Festival is an important part of the experience. The Susquehanna Style Bistro area features an amazing array of choices from the region’s best culinary brands, including The Strasburg Creamery, The Brasserie, 551 West, Harvey’s BBQ, What If…of Hershey, Prince Street Café, and Bountiful Feast. There is also a wonderful selection of wine and craft beer being served at the Market Fare Pub, The Oasis Pub, and The Bistro Pub.
3 – It’s the #2 Art Festival on the East Coast, and in the Top 50 in the US!
The nationally-recognized Art Fair Calendar currently rates the Long’s Park Art Festival among the Top 50 Art Fairs in the United States, and the #2 Art Fair on the East Coast. This is based on extensive surveys of art festival aficionados, including the 60,000 subscribers to ArtFairCalendar.com, their social media followers, and mailings to attendees from the hundreds of festivals coast to coast. The criteria included quality of art, venue setting/ambiance, affordability/wide price range, family friendly/kids’ activities, number of exhibitors, location, accessibility/parking, variety of media, and good food/music.
4 – It’s a Family-Friendly Event
Exposing kids to art is very important in child development, and we make it easy for families to bring their children by admitting all kids under 12 for FREE. Giving children an appreciation for art encourages exploration, self-expression, logical thinking, self-esteem, imagination, and creativity. Plus, middle/high schoolers and college students (with valid ID) are just $7.00. Children are invited to create their own works of art using recycled materials at Kids’ Art in the Park, presented by Art Matters Studio. They are invited to make up one FREE project. In addition, the Long’s Park Petting Farm will be open each day from 10 am to 3:30 pm.
5 – Over 200 professional artists from all over the US – including California, Maine, Florida, Washington, Wisconsin and Texas.
