Meet Fig Kennett Contributor: Sam Ferraro

We are so excited to welcome local expert Sam Ferraro to the team as a Fig Kennett Contributor! She will be writing feature blogs for Fig Kennett online. We recently asked Sam some questions to help us introduce her to you. Look out for her writings, reviews, and blogs here on FigKennett.com.

What do you love about your area?
I love that this area is always so welcoming. Having been working at Philter Coffee for a few years now, I feel that I’ve gotten to know so many awesome people, which is so satisfying. I love when I’m walking down the street and someone I’ve met before—no matter how briefly—will offer a friendly wave, and nothing makes me happier.

What is your favorite local restaurant? Favorite museum, landmark, place to visit?
My favorite local restaurant is Kaboburrito. I’m not sure that I would ever eat the recommended amount of vegetables if it weren’t for their salads! My favorite place to visit is definitely The Creamery or Kennett Brewing Company. I think there’s just something so awesome about each of those places. The Creamery is magical with the lights and the rustic feel, and KBC has such a comfortable vibe. You can’t help but to feel welcome there, both by staff and by Mark and Jossy.

Why do you like writing for Fig?
I like writing for Fig because it has given me such a different outlook on the town of Kennett Square. I already knew that it was a special place, but putting myself out there more, meeting even more awesome people, and exploring places I might not otherwise check out has really been an awesome and enlightening experience.

Where can we find you on a Friday night? Or on a Saturday?
On a typical Friday or Saturday night, you can usually find me at Kennett Brewing Company having a Sour IPA. If not there, I’m indulging in entirely too much sushi at Lily, because sushi is, and forever will be, my weakness.

What’s your dream day in your location?
A dream day in Kennett would certainly start at Philter. I can’t really function without coffee these days. I’d probably end up there to write, meet with friends, or whatever else. Then I’d make my way to Talula’s to check out their breads and pastries and to pick up some hot sauce (because Hank’s is life-changing). From there, I’d check out some shops around town and venture to Anson B. Nixon to walk along the creek trail.

What do you feel you bring to Fig as a local expert?
I think that as a local expert for Fig, I can offer a different voice. I like to talk about things in a quirky but honest kind of way. I think Kennett has a lot to offer and I want to discuss it in a fun, entertaining way.

What’s a fun, unique talent you possess?
A fun, unique talent that I possess is my ability to talk to anyone while I’m at work. It’s really weird, because I’m such an introvert, but when I’m behind the counter at Philter, I’m happy to talk to anyone about anything that they might want to talk about, and I kind of love it. I’m glad I have that chance to openly talk about things that other people are interested in.
