What is “Mezze”? A selection of small plates, or tapas. A fresh and seasonal tasting menu of lite fare to enjoy with friends. Elegant, shareable food in a casual atmosphere. Mezze is about great food and community, and it’s the newest addition to Kennett Square’s exciting restaurant scene.
In 2016, Wilmington native Andrew Cini launched a catering company, Del Fresco Events. A year later, he needed a base and a kitchen, and the vision for Mezze developed as organically as his seasonally-inspired tapas and small bites. “I’ve always loved this style of dining,” he says, “where you can share and taste a little of everything.” Each beautifully presented dish is scratch made with locally-sourced ingredients. It’s “wholesome, down-to-earth food with lots of great ﬂavors,” Cini says. But it’s also a unique concept, something “you just have to try to appreciate.”
Mezze enables everyone, regardless of busy schedules, to eat well. Pop in for Mezze’s express lunch at the snack bar featuring “fan favorites” Bravas potatoes and mushroom empanadas, or bring the kids after school or between activities for a healthy snack. Share Mezze’s popular “taste the menu” option with family or friends, enjoy oysters with music and a glass of wine on Friday evenings at the Market, or order food online for pick-up and enjoy a tapas plate at home.
Cini describes Kennett Square as the perfect ﬁt for Mezze. “People here are open to trying something a little diﬀerent,” he says. The team—with Cini in the kitchen, Bradley Goodman as general manager, and Grace Szczerba as “the glue that holds them together”—looks forward to introducing you to Mezze, where sharing and snacking happens.
