5 Ways to Give Experiences for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is coming up, and it’s easy to be fatigued by the usual gift ideas. If flowers and candy aren’t up your alley, why not opt for an experiential gift this year? Make memories by spending time with your valentine in an experience you can share! Here are 5 ideas for local outings and suggestions for pairings with tangible presents.

1 – For the literature lover

Combine a fun night out with a great cause and support the Kennett Library at the “Bad Romance” fundraiser at Kennett Brewing Company on February 6! Library staff will be guest bartenders, and you’ll have a chance to enjoy cringe-worthy passages from romance novels from the library’s archives. Pair the fun evening with a novel from the Kennett Resale Book Shoppe!

2 – For the chocolate lover

Indulge yourself at the Chocolate Lovers Festival on February 11, which benefits United Way of Southern Chester County! Enjoy decadent desserts from professional and amateur bakers – there is always plenty to go around. If you want to create a whole weekend of chocolate, register for the free Chocolate Workshop at the Kennett Library on February 10! Estelle Tracy of 37 Chocolates will share about the world of craft chocolate, and there will be samples! Pair your chocolate experiences with upscale chocolate bars by Dick Taylor, Potomac, and Ranger, which can all be found at Philter!

3 – For the beer lover

Enjoy craft beer at the Kennett Winterfest on February 24! This annual local event features a wide variety of breweries and food offerings, with local live music and camaraderie in the chilly weather! Often, brewers make special offerings just for this event, and it’s worthwhile for any fan of craft beer. There are designated driver tickets, too, just in case. Pair your festival day with the gift of a mixed six-pack of beer from Waywood Beverage or KSI Crafts!

    Longwood Gardens

4 – For the nature lover

Visit Longwood Gardens and take in the Orchid Extravaganza, which is on display now until March 25! These tropical exhibits are a bright, warm, and welcome break from the winter cold, and the Conservatory smells amazing! Pair your visit with a pretty potted orchid!

5 – For the music lover

Snag tickets to an upcoming show at the Kennett Flash! This local venue offers an intimate environment to take in local music acts and other performers. The Flash is BYOB, so pair your night out with a bottle of wine from Paradocx!
