Experience fine art in a whole new way at the 41st annual Long’s Park Art Festival during your Labor Day weekend Friday through Sunday, August 30th – September 1st! Lancaster, PA’s gorgeous Long’s Park will be transformed into a vibrant, tree-lined outdoor gallery for sophisticated art collectors and casual browsers alike to the experience the fine art and craftwork of over 200 juried artists and artisans from across the U.S.
Festival-goers will have the opportunity to explore, appreciate, and collect artwork in various categories including ceramics, digital art, drawing, wearable fiber, decorative fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood. This year the festival is excited to present two brand new categories—functional art and upcycled/creative reuse items. When introducing the new categories, festival artistic director Rick Faulkner stated, “We hope these new categories will be of interest to younger festival attendees; these artists offer work that can be held and experienced at home on a daily basis. This is work that is not just collected, but used and enjoyed for a lifetime.”
Named the top East Coast Art Festival of 2018 by Art Fair Calendar, the festival has also been consistently recognized as one of the top 50 art festivals in the nation, as well as a top event in Lancaster County. The Long’s Park Art Festival attracts visitors from across Central Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. This year’s exhibitors—a captivating mix of returning, new, and emerging artists—are being carefully curated by the festival’s organizers and will be announced soon!
“Our jury is always composed of artists who have shown their own work at one of our past shows and who are highly regarded in their own field. We are excited by the selection of artists who were chosen by our jury and who have elected to accept our invitation to exhibit at this year’s Long’s Park Festival,” stated festival operations director Bonita St. John.
Visitors to the Festival should plan to enjoy the weekend in Lancaster—a small but dynamic city filled with art galleries, unique shopping, and a diverse food scene. The city was named a top place to travel in 2019 by Forbes and has become a top destination for art and food lovers alike. To quote the New York Post, “Lancaster doesn’t resemble its Amish surroundings so much as it does a mini-Brooklyn: teeming with art galleries, indie boutiques, and restaurants, without the pretensions of the Big Apple.”
The festival is presented by the Long’s Park Amphitheater Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching Lancaster through the arts and music. All proceeds benefit the art festival and the foundation’s Summer Music Series—a free, public event that includes 13 to 16 summer concerts of award-winning musicians at the Long’s Park Amphitheater.
