Female Influencers Spring 2018: Allison Brunovszky

Allison Brunovszky, of Bavarian Motorsport, says she always knew she would run a business someday but she never dreamed it would be in auto sales and service.

In 1990, Allison’s husband opened a new auto body shop on Birch Street in Kennett Square. The retail automobile business was his lifelong profession. A few months after it opened, Allison left her job in real estate and went to work “temporarily” to help out. In 1995, they moved to their current location which they purchased and renovated on West Cypress Street at the site of the old Tunis Bros hardware. The new location had a mechanical service shop and car showroom in front. The body shop in the building next door was sold in 2001 and continues to operate to date as Keenan Abra. Over the years, Allison assisted in a supportive role, but in 2013 she got an opportunity for which she had never planned. When her husband decided to retire, he encouraged her to continue the business.

She knew if she took it on that she’d have to do it her way. One thing that sets Bavarian Motorsport apart from other similar businesses is that they’re staffed equally with men and women. Education and strong mentorship, she says, keep her focused. She wants to operate a good business that contributes to the community. “Kennett Square has so many positive things going for it,” she says, “and I want to be a part of that. We’ve become active in the Kennett Run and Victory Food Truck Festival, among other events.” Allison is the mother of four grown daughters. Her goal is to teach them by example to have the courage to seize opportunities, to serve others, to never stop learning new things, and to be a positive influence on others.
