Employee Spotlight: Mark Oellig
Mark was pleased to join the staff at Kuzo and Foulk Funeral Homes in February of 2020 after working in Maryland & Erie, Pennsylvania. Despite having to navigate through a tough pandemic, Mark has found a new and comfortable home right here in Southern Chester County. Mark grew up in nearby Lancaster County. While he was still in high school, he reached out to the funeral home in his small town to ask for a job and to his surprise, he was offered a position. Today, when anyone askes Mark how he became a funeral director, his quick answer is, “I had a high school job that got out of control”. The better answer is, Mark was able to observe the caring and positive impact a career in funeral service had on many. As he reflects back on over 20 years working in funeral service, he has not been disappointed. When Mark is not working, he enjoys getting outside, playing golf and walking around the town of Kennett Square. He is also an avid follower of Penn State athletics. Mark is often reminded why he entered into funeral service in the first place: “…to be faithful to those who have placed their trust in him”. He would welcome anyone who has questions related to the funeral industry to reach out; even if it just so happens to be a chance meeting along a sidewalk in Kennett Square.
Mark and his fellow directors Curt Greer and Keely Griffin, along with office managers, Maribeth Fasano and Mychal Brown, support the community as a team who has invested their hearts and souls into caring for their neighbors and those they have lost.
